| The Seven Abominations Of Proverbs |
Occasionally I have people ask me where to find the 7 abominations in the book of Proverbs. To make it easier and quicker for some to find it I have provided a page for convenience.
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (KJV)
This list of abominations is not a complete list. There are many more things that are abominable to the Lord even in the book of Proverbs.
The word hate should be taken as to reject from one’s fellowship. It is the desire to have no contact or relationship with another. [Spiros Zodhiates, The Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible, p. 1671]
It is interesting to note that the first five all have reference to body parts. The proud look could also be interpreted as proud eyes. Then there’s the lying tongue, the hands that shed innocent blood, the heart that devises wicked imaginations, and the swift feet running to mischief.
To help you find what you're looking for on this site quicker I have provided the search engine box below.
