Thank you for stopping by. Here you will learn about the "binding & loosing" teaching that is commonly practiced among many that are in the Christian faith. Some teach we are to "bind & loose" numberous things (normally by thr way of prayer). They will have you bind demon's, spirits of sickness, poverty, pride, anger, etc., and teach you to loose the opposite, i.e. for sickness-health, for poverty-wealth, for pride-humility, and so on. But this is not scriptual as we will soon see.
The two main sources that they get their teaching is from:
Matt 16:19 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.(KJV)
Matt 18:18 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.(KJV)
In Matt 16:19 the disciples were to be involved in a certain amount of rule making in building God's kingdom and they were to have authority to disciple other members of the kingdom.
In Matt 18:18 parallels Matt 16:19. Here the authority belongs to the church. The "binding" and "loosing" refer to the decisions of the church in conflicts and disputes. The words "bind" and "loose" are rabbiaic terms meaning to forbid and to permit.
No where do we see in these verses (and the verses around them) that "binding" and "loosing" are even meant for prayer of any kind. They are simply in reference to discipline; what the disciples and the church forbid and permit.
The expressions "will be bound in heaven" and "will be loosed in heaven," are examples in Greek of the periphrastic future perfect passive construction and should, therefore, be translated "will have been bound already" and "will have been loosed already" in heaven. The pronouncement of "binding" or "loosing" is dependent upon what heaven has already willed, rather than earth's giving direction to heaven. It's illogical and unscriptural to think that heaven is subject to earth and must follow what it directs; earth is always subject to heaven, and only that which heaven has already willed can be done on earth.
We also see that we do not run around "binding" and "loosing" things here on earth, but that our declaration is dependent upon what God has willed, not what we believe to be his will for us or others in any given situation.
