So, you think that you are good enough to go to heaven. You don't lie. You don't smoke. You don't drink. You haven't killed anyone. You go to church on Sunday, and your even a member. It does look like you might be good enough to man, but what does God think?
Luke 18:18-26
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? (KJV)
Wow! Jesus said that there are none that are good, except for God. This rich young ruler seemed to be a pretty good guy, but he wasn't good enough. Even those that heard it wonder at who could be good enough to go to heaven. How do you stack up to this young ruler?
1 Cor 6:9-10
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (KJV)
Do you fit somewhere in this category? Beware! Don't deceive yourself, or you will not inherit the kingdom of God. So do you think that you are still good enough?
James 2:10-11
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. (KJV)
Oh my!! If we do just one bad thing, it's as though we have done everything that there is to do that is bad!
Rom 3:10
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (KJV)

Rom 6:23

If I sin, that is, if I do even one bad thing I will go to hell? Yes that's right. But God has a gift of eternal life waiting for you in His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Jesus is the only way to heaven. There is nothing that you could ever do to get to heaven on your own.
Rom 5:15
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. (KJV)
Yes, it is the free gift by grace though Jesus, that we have eternal life.
Eph 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)
It's not by any work that you could do, but by the grace that is found through Jesus that you have eternal life.
